Hey, good to see you. I'm Ashes-Onik, and this site will be my public repository of artwork for the time being. Creating this site was an action inspired by some friends of mine, as well as the artistic courage of many other close ones in my life. I'm entering a new decade of my life very soon and I feel guided toward something new. I create and I create, but so much of it is kept behind walls - this is an effort to change that.

I'm a trans woman from the USA and I put my pants on one leg at a time. There are various causes that I align myself with, chief among those being love, empathy, thought, staying up all night, anarchism and veganism - facets of the aforementioned will feature in my art. People say to write what you know, so I draw equally from my own experiences as well as my imagination to fuel my fire. I call myself Ashes because that's what's left at the end of a fire, and despite all the times I've been burned down, embers of passion and creativity remain. This is their bed of tinder and kindling, and I welcome the jubilation of campfire songs that might help me feel more welcome in the world. Onik is a name-title that I wear with pride and love, graced to me by my best friend. Miizahbii hiix vehiir, Kh'aamaht-Onik ghen mekvehren'hy.

While it's not something I'll elaborate on here, I am otherkin, nonhuman, and human altogether. The outside perspective I have on things is a consequence of this, and it informs all aspects of my life to varying degrees.
